Hi! I’m Shauna…

I am a birth and postpartum doula living in Brooklyn, NY with my husband and our son, Bowen (who has many nicknames… one of them is Bobo).

I became a doula after a transitional chapter of my own. While on maternity leave from Lovevery — still postpartum, still healing, still finding my footing as a new mom — I was unexpectedly laid off. During a very vulnerable time, I was left unsure of what would come next.

I spent years immersing myself in the child development space, learning deeply about baby brain development, milestones, parent education and bonding. I knew that whatever I did next needed to keep me connected to families, children, and the early stages of life.

As I reflected on my own journey into motherhood, I kept returning to one thing: my birth experience. It was something I daydreamed about long after it ended. I wanted to relive it again and again — which I know isn’t the case for everyone, but I believe it should be for so many more.

My doula changed our world. She was the voice of confidence when we doubted ourselves, the steady presence when things felt overwhelming and the reminder that we were capable and supported. She was solid ground during one of the biggest transitions of our lives.

That led me here. I knew I wanted to be that presence for other families as they move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Birth work also runs in my family. My mother has been a Labor & Delivery nurse for over 45 years. The passion and care she brings to her work is something I’ve always admired and aspired to have.

So here I am, leading with empathy, compassion and deep respect for this transformative season of life! I am honored to walk alongside families during one of the most impactful experiences they will ever have.
